First time trying this. It was great!
I just tried this hot cocoa for the first time. I am not a fan of extra sweet hot chocolate, which is most that is out there. I tried this hot cocoa and it was great. Good cocoa flavor without being too sweet. Loved it!

Tasty best seller
At our Old Folks' home we have a small coffee mess. This is by far our best seller!
Using the 7 ounce setting it makes a tasty hot chocolate drink. Too watery with a larger amount though.
We smell chocolate every day from the nearby M&M plant so that might help account for the popularity of this drink.
Not too healthy though.

I don't have a definitive answer (I had to look VERY hard to find the 2012 on the cocoa), but I expect it had something to do with a packaging or labeling expiration than with a CONSUME BY date. Dry products usually have a far longer shelf life.
My husband drinks 3-4 cups of this cocoa every day and has seen no decrease in flavor.

Green Mountain discontinued this item last year, and the remaining stock we have left has a "Best By" date of December 2012. Drinking the product beyond this date is in no way harmful, it just may slowly lose some of its flavor over time, which is why we sell it at a discount.

I think that is true. Some of the freshness is gone from these. Some were a bit hard inside. The cups did not empty fully when the hot water went through. I did use a spoon to get the rest of the chocolate out of the cup and into the hot water.

I think it does mean it is passed the freshness date, but we have been ordering it for over a year and it tastes great. This is our favorite flavor of hot cocoa.
