A Good Choice among pod machines
A pod brewer *FORCES* hot water through the coffee and the seal around the top must be made or leakage will occur. Much like an expresso machine this is different from your standard drip machine. I have not had any leakage during use and I carefully press different maker's "pods" into the center with great results as long as the seal above the pod is able to make continuous contact with the full metal top of the pod holder. I'm very satisfied and if you only make one cup or live alone than give this a try

Slightly Disappointed
Being that I truly respect the Melita brand and enjoy their coffee, I was notably disappointed in the operation of this machine. Most problematic is that it only accepts the Melita Java Pods...no other brand that I tried would fit in the machine. Second, it was extremely messy to operate. The manual stated some dripping might occur between cycles, but mine leaked a steady stream of water everywhere. I'm sticking with my older pod brewer...it works just as well, isn't nearly as messy, and accepts pods of all brands.

I am very satisfied with my coffeemaker
I just love the fact that I can have a delicious cup of home-brewed coffee in minutes without farting around with kettles or larger coffee makers. It looks so elegant on the counter.

I don't have a Melita but I do have a Senseo which I love and when it breaks I buy a new or used one on ebay- you can get them relatively cheap and ebay has buyer protection- MAKE SURE YOU READ THE EBAY DESCRIPTION- they do sell some for parts only which means they are as broke as yours- good luck

Mine does it also, but only if the reservoir is not full (i.e. if I make a second cup without filling the reservoir. I just wipe up the water, it's not a lot. I intend using my coffee maker until it completely breaks down. Wiping up the water is not a big deal for me.

I have the same problem. I try to clean the removeable parts as best as I can. I then make sure that the lid is tightly closed. Someties that works and sometimes not. I would love to find out what makes it leak.

There are no marks on the water reservoir so it's anyone's guess what it's made of. It is plastic but I don't know what kind. I do like the unit. You don't need to keep water sitting for a long time in it if that is your concern. It would be more effort to fill it every time but that's up to you, I guess. The convenience of the one-cupper is the best feature. I waste less coffee because I don't make a full pot and end up throwing away some.

Yes, it is plastic and I'm almost sure it is BPA free... We have been using Melitta Coffee Maker for over 10 yrs and love it.

I don't personally use a melitta brand coffee maker mine is a Hamilton Beach and the water tray is made of plastic.

The reservoir is made of plastic. The one I have is not BPA free, but it's 8yrs old. I believe the new ones are.

I am not really familiar with Senseo, but I think it is frothy. It is a great cup of coffee. I use Melitta pods. When you press the small cup twice it fills the mug perfectly without tasting watered-down.

I'm not familiar with the Senseo coffee maker, but the amount of frothy-ness depends on the type of coffee you're making. I make lattes in my Tassimo very often, and the creamer is frothed very well, in my opinion.
