CoffeeForLess.com "Hit the Books" Scholarship

CoffeeForLess.com is the subsidiary of Coffee Serv Inc., founded by Jack and Lynn Kirshner. CoffeeForLess.com is an online coffee retailer that carries a wide variety of coffee products and Keurig K-cup® pods. With 25 years as a business leader in Philadelphia, we at CoffeeForLess.com know that tough times do not just hit the banks. They hit us all, but we must never lose sight of our biggest investment in the future: the next generation of scholars and entrepreneurs.

Jack and Lynn have set an example with their nearly 20 years of active involvement in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and Coffee Serv Inc. has followed that example by giving thousands of dollars in donations and coffee to the same. In order to continue this tradition of community involvement, we at CoffeeForLess.com are introducing the semi-annual "Hit The Books Scholarship" as our way of helping the future leaders of the business world meet their educational goals.

Eligible students will be aged 18-25 and enrolled in an accredited college or university.* Candidates will have the opportunity to compete once in January and again in September for the scholarship, but will only be eligible to win the scholarship once. The "Hit The Books Scholarship" will award one student up to $500 dollars to be used for educational books and materials.**

In order to be considered for the scholarship, candidates should submit an essay of no more than 500 words on the subjects of the importance of education in their lives and how the scholarship money will assist the students' goals. Bonus points will be awarded to those students who find a creative way to include their passion for coffee within their essay without losing sight of the primary topic.

CoffeeForLess.com "Hit The Books Scholarship" winners will be selected based upon two criteria: successful accomplishment of essay subject matter and individual student needs. Scholarship awardees will be expected to permit Coffee Serv Inc. to publish their winning essay on CoffeeForLess.com. Awardees will also be required to compose and publish a follow up blog posting on CoffeeForLess.com with a photograph of themselves and an update on how the scholarship has helped them accomplish their goals.

Hit The Books scholars are expected to illustrate integrity and drive with their use of the scholarship funds but will also be required to submit receipts for the educational materials acquired as a result of the scholarship award.
