Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 49 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Switching from the "K" brand I bought this brewer for my husband for Christmas after he went to our local coffee house one day and said he got a latte from there and it sucked. We already had a "K" brewer that we had for over two years and worked well for the most part. Low and behold on Christmas Day the other brewer breaks and we had to drink our Starbucks ground coffee using the French press until we opened presents. So glad we have this brewer now. I like flavored coffees with flavored creamers, but I am more of a specialty drink person and love my mochas and chai lattes. I also like how this brewer takes up less counter space than the "other" one. I was planning on keeping the "other" brewer because we still have cups, but after troubleshooting and calling the customer service number, the agent declared the other brewer as "beyond repair". They offered us a "fantastic" deal on a duplicate brewer which really wasn't that fantastic at all. Everything I've had from the Tassimo brewer has tasted great. I'm still getting used to not being able to customize my cup size at the start of brewing, but it's no biggie. The plain coffees taste great and I've also had the chai latte and peppermint latte. This brewer really has something for everyone. My mom who doesn't drink coffee loved the chai latte. The only thing I miss is having the refillable cup to put my own grounds in. That's the reason why I gave this brewer a "Good" instead of "excellent" rating on versatility, but if we want to use our own grounds, we can just use the French press. January 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tassimo makes a Great cup of Coffee! I love the Tassimo - it makes a great cup of coffee and also has the option for expresso drinks. I tried the Keurig and really disliked the weak coffee. Tassimo is a much better system and is very easy to use. There needs to be a better coffee selection, though. June 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love Our T45 So Much We Own Two! We love our T45 so much we own two - one for our Canadian home, the other for our Florida condo.... we just could not be without our favorite kitchen appliance. There's nothing like a fresh cup of quality coffee, especially when it's ready to serve in less than a minute, Unlike similar single serve brewers which are little more than glorified kettles, heating the water first then dispensing it, the Tassimo T45 performs instantly and each cup is a perfect brew every time. The T45 is easy to clean and requires very little maintenance - simply perform a descaling a couple times a year. We brew 3-5 cups of Gevalia and other brand coffees per day, and have experienced no problems in more than two years. Add the fine quality of Gevalia coffee T-Discs, and you have a match made in heaven. We would recommend the Tassimo T45 to everyone. April 26, 2012

A shopper asked: Some of the t discs will not pierce. I am afraid to push down too hard on the clamp for fear of breaking it. Can someone advise? Thank you. Apr 12, 2013

D C: I've found that the thicker T-discs, which contain creams such as for latte etc., require that you pull the clamping portion (the half-ring on the top of the machine) slightly forward before pushing down. It's a difficult motion to describe ... once you do it you'll know what I'm talking about.

One other thing to consider is that the piercing unit might need to be replaced (you can find this at various online stores on the Internet). I replaced mine recently because I kept finding the pierced bits of the t-disc within the tube that carries the fluid (coffee, cream etc) and was hoping the new piercing unit would prevent this. (It didn't, and I'm wondering if it's just a design flaw in the Tassimo unit.)

Helene V: It could be that you aren't getting it at quite the right angle - if the joint is bent when it comes down, that might interfere. Or you could try seeing if the disk will shift slighlty in the holder - once if awhiile I've not gotten the disk seated correctly, and that interferes with closing everyrhing properly. Apr 13, 2013

Janet F: In order to break the seal of the disc, you do have to give it a firm push downward. Obviously, it could be a problem with your specific unit, but I'd try a pretty solid push before giving up. We've been using our Tassimo unit for approx. 5 years. & haven't yet had a problem with pushing too hard. Apr 12, 2013

Bryan H: First make sure the t disc holder is fully engaged in the machine. If you remove it and place it back in you should hear and feel a click. Second make sure the tab of t disc is properly aligned with the divit in the t disc holder and properly seated. Beyond these two steps there is not much else that can go wrong.

I have had my machine for a little over two years now with an average daily use exceeding four brewing sessions. I have never experienced a t disc that did not pierce.

Hope you find this helpful!

Jennifer P: When I have that problem I just lift the lid back up and wiggle it a bit then push back down with enough force to close it. The one handle sometimes gets in a weird position that doesn't allow it to close all the way, and I do use enough force to get it closed. I wouldn't overly force it, but use enough pressure to get it to lock and pierce, of course it should be pierced automatically once you get it locked down. I hope this helps and this is the problem you described, if not ask again and I try to help with a better answer. Apr 12, 2013

Lisa T: Do not be afraid. Just make sure the disc is properly aligned where it needs to go.. There will always be some amount of resistance, but that is normal. Once you push down and it hits the disc, keep applying pressure as long as it seems to be going through. If it just plain stops and you can't push anymore, then check and see if the tab of the disc is in the right place. I love this machine and it makes great coffee. Best of luck! Apr 12, 2013

F L: I've never had this happen with our machine. The only thing that sometimes happens is the very center of the T disc sometimes gets left behind in the machine so this is something to watch for. If it isn't removed the liquid for the next cup can go everywhere.

We sometimes have to push down pretty hard on the closing mechanism to get it to engage. Again, it's never been a problem with not puncturing the T disc.

Len M: If your machine has had a lot of use, if may need a new piercing nozzle. Over a period of time they become dull. A replacement can be ordered it simply pushes out by pushing upward on the discharge nozzle.
I have had several times when the closing lever just needs to be reset. Remove the disk and reinsert and the disk and close the lid.

Hope this helps you solve your problem.

Jan C: I've never had that problem and I've had a Tassimo for over 5 years. Slide the disc in and pull down the lid. Sometimes it won't close if so try adjusting the disc a little to one side or the other. Then close the lid down again. Also you may want to take the piercer out and reinsert it. Possibly it's in a bit crooked or not all the way into the slot. Apr 12, 2013

Mary K: I actually put a lot of pressure on my tassimo machine. In the morning I'm pretty tired so often times I do the one hand slam on it to get the thing going. You do have to break the seal so it's not a "light pressure" deal as with the Keurig machine. Just make sure the handle notch is where it should be and you'll be fine. Apr 13, 2013

K A: I have had this machine for a while and have found that its really important to ensure the disc is seated very accurately so that it closes properly. I have never had a problem with them not piercing though. I feel like I can push down the clamp pretty hard and tightly and it has never broken! Apr 12, 2013

ROB Z: Hi I have the same unit and have been pretty aggressive with pushing the top down. I know what you are saying because with the new safety feature it almost sounds like something is going to snap but again i have been fairly forceful with no ill effects. Hope this helps! Apr 12, 2013

Denise H: Yes you have to apply lots of pressure to it. Just make sure the disc is in there correctly and it should be fine. I've had mine for two years now and knock on wood we have not broke it. Apr 12, 2013

David B D: I've never had the problem. You should only push down on the silver ring to be able to pierce the disk. No need to push on the black center. Apr 12, 2013

Cindy L: These disks do take a bit of pressure to open. My mother who is 74 has had trouble, but I'm guessing most people should be able to succeed. Aug 26, 2013

DuBose B: Push away! It takes a hard push sometimes. Or take the disc out and re-insert it so the little tab is completely in the hole for it. Apr 12, 2013
